Still, Apple is the number two in the smartphone market. This space will not be able to hold the iPhone manufacturer, however, the Chinese technology group Huawei promised at the electronics trade fair CES 2017 in Las Vegas.

Last year, Huawei had ranked third among the world’s largest smartphone providers with 139 million mobile phones sold, said Richard Yu, head of the consumer business, at the CES technology fair in Las Vegas. “We will be in second place in the foreseeable future,” Yu announced.
The industry is currently led by the South Korean electronics Samsung before Apple. Huawei was last behind Apple, followed by the Chinese competitors Oppo, Xiaomi and Lenovo. According to the market research institute IDC, Apple’s iPhone has only three percent more market shares than Huawei smartphones (as of Q3 / 2016).
Successful with research and German lenses
The success of Huawei is due, among other things, to the efforts in research and development, emphasized Yu. Over the past ten years, Huawei had spent $ 38 billion on it. Yu also expressed his reservations that Huawei is using the intellectual property of its competitors in the West.
In his speech at the CES, the Huawei CEO emphasized the contribution of companies from Germany to the common business success. Huawei uses cameral lenses from Leica for its top smartphones. A special series of the Huawei Mate 9 was designed by Porsche Design. And in the new networked car from Audi, Huawei’s wireless modules would provide connectivity in the 4G and 4.5G networks.
Huawei gets himself to Amazon’s Alexa
At the keynote, Yu announced a comprehensive co-operation with the US technology company Amazon. The Huawei Mate 9 is the world’s first smartphone to use the Amazon language service Alexa. Alexa is a digital assistant with which people can talk. The service can perform small tasks via connected devices and services. For smartphone manufacturers with Google’s Android operating system, Alexa is positioning itself as an alternative to Google’s voice recognition service.
