He continued to live without lungs for six days waiting for a transplant in April last year.
The world is believed to be the first operation of its kind and protected a small artificial lung.
Melissa Benoist, who lives in Canada, is a potentially lethal complication of cystic fibrosis.
He said: “I started to develop a lung infection, influenza I am not in my 20s and downloaded me on this struggle.”
The doctors started an innovative surgery that said it was “a little luck” to save your life, so Melissa was given hours to live.

“I wow, it really worked and saved, I had to live without the lungs for six days while I was waiting for a proper donor lungs.” There was a lot of fun, “Melissa said.
