For more than a decade, the most important artists, leaders, scientists, activists and entrepreneurs in the world have been participating at TIME 100 every year. While TIME editors are making a final conversation on who makes the list, TIME also evaluates what our readers believe is the most influential people of the year.
This year’s list of TIME 100 candidates ranges from the newly-re-elected Russian President Vladimir Putin to the American actor and lawyer Meghan Markle, who is about to become the youngest member of the British royal family. Student activists – from Dreamers fighting for immigration reform students to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School advocating school security and weapons control – are also running this year’s TIME 100
Below is a list of dominant people who have influenced the modern world. Voting in partnership with Apesse will start on March 28 and end on April 17 at midnight ET. TIME 100 will be declare on April 19.
